Sialkot Tannery Zone
Sialkot Tannery Zone is a project initiated by Khawaja Asif to address environmental challenges caused by the discharge of effluents from approximately 240 tanneries in and around Sialkot. This initiative aims to provide a sustainable solution for the responsible disposal of tannery waste. Before the establishment of the Sialkot Tannery Zone, the effluents from numerous tanneries were being discharged into seasonal nullahs, leading to environmental degradation. With no proper effluent collection system or treatment facilities, the disposal of tannery waste posed a significant threat to the local ecosystem.
Khawaja Asif’s leadership played a crucial role in the successful completion of the Sialkot Tannery Zone. The project aimed not only to address the environmental impact of tannery waste but also to create a scientific landfill for responsible waste management. The relocation of tanneries to the designated Tannery Zone ensures proper waste disposal and minimizes the adverse effects on the environment. Khawaja Asif’s commitment to environmental sustainability shines through as he contributes to creating a greener and healthier Sialkot.
